  Four papers, one of which still exists. The thesis is that blood remembers and that the discipline is the act of getting it to answer.

1. THE THESIS

Feuer argues that the blood is not a substance we consume but a language we read. The Hunger is not appetite. It is the grammar of the thing insisting on being spoken.

He writes, and this is the line the seminar quotes, that a vampire does not feed on a person. A vampire reads a person, and occasionally the reading is wrong.

2. THE METHOD

Prolong the contact past necessity. In practice: take less than you need. Feuer claims this is discipline and the older hands call it heresy, mostly because the older hands have never managed to take less.

The counter-argument, from the seminar floor, was that a childer taught to take less will be taught to take more by somebody less careful. There is no answer in the paper. Feuer lost the argument and kept the paper.

3. WHY IT MATTERS HERE

This node has not resolved it and has decided not to pretend to. Two houses on this Compact run the seminar and both send a childer.

The Third Reconstruction was only possible because somebody understood what was in the blood and somebody else was willing to destroy what was in the body. Both of those facts are in the paper. Neither of them is comfortable.
