A NAME IN YOUR OWN HAND (STARTER / varies) An operator finds a correction note in the archive written in their own hand, dated three days from now. True Brujah files say time is negotiable; the census says otherwise. First wrong thing: the note corrects something the operator has not yet filed wrong. S03. THE PANTRY ORDER (STARTER / bogota) Recoleta tunnel surplus: eleven place settings, six Kindred in the city. The cannibal dossier (FILE B) says the extra five eat first. First wrong thing: a plate set for someone the table insists is not invited. Pull dossier: cannibal_dossier_medellin. S04. FEEDS AND SPEEDS (STARTER / detroit) Packard cooling crawlspace: sabotage precedes Technocracy relocations by six weeks (RUST-CADENCE). A Ministry antitribu is selling the schedule. First wrong thing: the buyer list has a Camarilla seal on it. S05. THE COUNTING HUM (STARTER / kyiv) Metro tunnels hum at 50Hz except one stretch that hums at 49. Nosferatu batch file nosferatu29 marked the stretch COUNTING-HUM and stopped filing. First wrong thing: the hum slows down when you listen carefully. That is not how hums work. S06. BONE-SCRIPT RATLINE (STARTER / istanbul) Harbinger fees are paid in the names of the dead. A ratline packet crossed the Bosphorus with a fee list that includes a name still breathing. First wrong thing: the living name is the courier carrying it. S07. THE THIRD MEAL (STARTER / varies) Morgue freezers emptied, doors sealed, access logs intact — FLESH-LEDGER. Nagaraja files say the logs are the point. First wrong thing: the log timestamps run 40 minutes longer than the night itself. S08. DOOR 41 (STARTER / the land of the black sand) Ministry batch file mini45 names a vault door in the dunes that must never be found open. A drone photograph from 2019 shows it open by one hand-width. First wrong thing: the photograph's metadata says tomorrow. S09. THE SLEEPER THAT COUNTS (STARTER / prague) Gargoyle census flag WAKE-COUNT reads 14. No one has visited. First wrong thing: after tonight's audit it reads 15, and you were the only one on the ladder. S10. TWO OF NOTHING (STARTER / odessa) Ravnos twins filed in two cities on the same night, witnessed in both. The dossier says only one of them is real, and refuses to say which. First wrong thing: both signed the same hotel register with the same handwriting and different names. S11. THE UNHEALED FILE (STARTER / varies) Fourteen Salubri healers in nine countries report the same patient with the same incurable wound. Registry instruction: do not reopen the file. First wrong thing: the patient checked into a safehouse the node does not operate. S12. SIGNAL-30 GOES QUIET (STARTER / new orleans) Sadie LaRue's pirate radio (SIGNAL-30) has broadcast nightly since 1987. Tonight: silence. Daughters of Cacophony files say the last song she played has not finished yet. First wrong thing: listeners report the song continuing on dead channels. -------------------------------------------------------------------- ENDINGS — WAYS OUT (OR DOWN) -------------------------------------------------------------------- E01. THE QUIET CLOSE. The file answers. Every question the node asked is now answered, in order, including the one nobody asked. Closing condition: log the answers, close the packet, report VLA-7. Do not thank the source. Sources here count thanks as consent. E02. THE COSTLY CLOSE. The truth is recovered but the operator's name now appears in a ledger they did not know they were in (FORECLOSE-ECHO, TAB-OPEN). Ending: pay the fee in something renewable — silence, a correction, a map — never in vitae, never in names. E03. THE UNANSWERED CLOSE. The discrepancy resolves itself the night after you stop investigating. The file heals. Ending: file it as RESOLVED-UNEXPLAINED and never open it again. Three operators did. Their nodes still run. This is presented as reassurance. E04. THE CASCADE. Two elders, one diablerie, one city (W110 pattern). Ending condition: the node does not survive being right. Success = the archive outlives the operator. Ship everything, then go dark. E05. THE GIFT CLOSE. A Kindred offers help: freely, warmly, with details only a friend would know. Ending condition: it is a Ministry antitribu or a mirror-write. Accept nothing. The story ends when you make them say why they know your node name — and they do, and it is worse than lying. E06. THE SUNRISE PARADOX. The case closes at dawn. Whatever was wrong with the tunnels is wrong no longer. Ending condition: photograph the fixed stretch. The photograph will show it broken. File both. That pair is the whole story. E07. THE LEDGER BALANCES. Every fee paid, every name returned, every plate accounted for. The red room plate that matched a haven is re-photographed: empty. Ending condition: total surplus = zero. Nobody has ever reached this ending. The file keeps a blank page for it. E08. THE SECOND BURIAL. The case ends; the paperwork does not. A Hecata antitribu files the closing report on the node's behalf — correctly, kindly, before the node finishes writing it. Ending condition: accept the filing. Amendment rights are included.
